Overdue major schedules.

                    Line failures in overdue major schedule locos have been observed. Following actions are required to be taken:

1.    Make list of items prone to failures in overdue locos like small motors, air brake valves, rubber hoses etc. List to be based on actual line and shed failures in last 3 years in overdue major schedule locos.

2.    Items featuring in above list to be replaced in running schedules or in medium schedules as decided by shed.

3.    Root cause of failure of items in overdue major loco: quality of material, fitment workmanship to be identified. Each to be tackled by detailed action plan.

4.    Planning for overdue/due major schedule should be based upon matrix of factors namely

a)            line failures, b) overdue period, c) condition of major assemblies,              d) load box result, e) feed back of SSE/Running, drivers booking and loco history books- non-scheduled repairs etc.

Priority of loco to be taken for major schedule should be done on above basis to ensure focussed need based alteration without compromising reliability.

5.    No overdue POH/RB loco should be allowed in service. Mail/Exp locos to be sent to POH on basis of actual km (8 lakhs) earned or 8 year whichever is earlier.
